Sunnyvale Parks Guide

September 25, 2017
Pelin Erdal
Sunnyvale has 17 parks and 1 plaza, equating to over 476 acres of space to play! According to the City of Sunnyvale’s website, the Sunnyvale Park system was designed with the goal that every neighborhood would be within walking distance of a park. The City’s great efforts certainly show. All the Sunnyvale parks I've been to have been clean, nicely maintained with plenty to do. Don’t know where to start? I absolutely love this handy graphic the City put together, comparing all parks and their amenities - whether there are playgrounds, ...

Time blocking for busy professionals

September 07, 2017
Pelin Erdal
Time management is a real issue for most people, especially busy professionals. With packed schedules, endless to-do lists, looming deadlines and demanding clients, I know how easy it is for the day to get away from us. As a real estate agent, I'm convinced that I must be 100% reachable at all times - that every text, email and call received needs my immediate attention. As a result, the day becomes reactionary, merely responding to the myriad of things that get thrown my way. But the truth is, reactionary work keeps us all from being ...

8 Simple Tricks to Decluttering your Home

August 11, 2017
Pelin Erdal
We all have clutter. It's just a fact of life. What's really interesting about my work is that I get to see people in their homes “au natural” -  toys strewn across the floor, laundry half folded, dishes in the sink, and I’m never phased by it. I’ve grown a sort of tolerance to clutter and the ability to see through it to the real “bones” of a home. But home buyers don’t usually share my special talent, which is why I’m a huge advocate of decluttering - and not just for preparing a home for sale, but for everyday living as well. The reason ...

Sunnyvale Mid Year Market Update

July 26, 2017
Pelin Erdal
Bay Area home prices remain far more expensive than statewide home prices, according to a new California Association of Realtors report. This is no surprise to any of us living in the Bay Area. Prices keep inching higher, as housing supply simply cannot keep pace with job growth and buyer demand. So far this year we've had historically low inventory - with fewer listing hitting the market the first half of 2017 than in 2016 and 2015. We saw inventory levels peak in March 2017 and then steadily decline. This was good news for ...

Best Places to Watch 4th of July Fireworks in Silicon Valley

June 28, 2017
Pelin Erdal
The San Francisco waterfront is the obvious go-to for most bay area residents, but with two toddlers in tow and an aversion to sitting in traffic, large crowds and long lines, we’ve decided to put together a list of Silicon Valley spots to watch this year's 4th of July fireworks that are a little closer to home. [Oh, and if you do insist on heading to San Francisco, the fireworks barges will be located in the Bay just north of Aquatic Park and Pier 39 in Fisherman’s Wharf. Marina Green, Ghirardelli Square and Crissy Field, are also great ...

The Centennials are Coming!

June 20, 2017
We have been talking about Millenials for a while now, and next up are the Centennials. The Centennials were born from 1997 to present, and they have grown up a little differently living through two large recessions. They have a different world view as a result of the time they came of age; valuing experiences over things, having constraints growing up, and growing up learning that hard work and grit are important. Depending on how things shake out, this generation could potentially outperform Millenials in the workplace and likely will ...

6 Things I wish I knew before buying a home

June 02, 2017
Pelin Erdal
Kevin and I have bought two homes, the first was a small condo we purchased when we were engaged, and later a home to accommodate our growing family. We know first hand that buying a home can be overwhelming, confusing and expensive - especially in Silicon Valley, am I right? Even though both of us were experienced agents, we still learned a lot with each buying experience. So here are 6 things I wish I knew before buying a home. Get pre-approved before you start looking. Lending laws have changed dramatically over the last decade, as ...

Sunnyvale Events and Activities: Summer 2017 Summer is almost here (finally!) and I know I'm not the only one looking to get outside and enjoy the sunshine! And if you’re looking for a way to spend an event-free Saturday, this self guided Sunnyvale ...

My top 5 lunch spots in Sunnyvale

Don’t underestimate this fast-growing Silicon Valley suburb. Sunnyvale’s restaurant scene has really blown up over the last several years, and Sunnyvale is now home to an abundant array of foods to please any craving. Working in Sunnyvale we’ve gotten rather familiar with many of it’s lunch time hot spots, so here are a few of my favorites. You won't see anything fancy on my list, because 99% of the time I’m in a mad rush from meeting to meeting (hopefully without spilling sauce on my shirt). Dishdash and their trusty drive-through like ...

Once red hot, Bay Area housing market still simmers

January 31, 2017
One of the things Simon Yee and his wife Tamara Corduck like about their new home in Danville, Calif., is the large front yard where they are photographed with their children Bella Yee, 7, and Colin Yee 4, on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017. The family moved from Dublin and are excited about having more space in their new home. (Susan Tripp Pollard/Bay Area News Group)   BY: RICHARD SCHEININ I BAY AREA NEWS GROUP I THE MERCURY NEWS Bay Area home sales sagged in December from a year earlier, but — continuing a nearly five-year trend — the median ...
