Los Altos has the finest collection of late Eichlers, and one of the most attractive and aesthetically harmonious South Bay Eichler neighborhood. Beyond the beautiful curb appeal and well maintained exteriors and landscapes, the streets are also free of clutter with no visible power lines in the yards since the electric utilities in the neighborhood are run underground.


Two very small tracts make up the Los Altos Eichler community, however there are also a handful of custom built Eichler homes scattered around South Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, like this one on Via Ventana. The larger Los Altos Eichler tract is known as Fallen Leaf Park, a peaceful neighborhood with tree lined streets, that was recently the focus of an Eichler Network piece titled Welcome to Paradise. Fallen Leaf Park consists of 37 homes located on Fallen Leaf Ln, Clay Dr and Alexander Way. Originally built on a cherry orchard in 1968 and 1969, this subdivision of homes range from 3 bed, 2000 sq ft floor plans to some of the much larger, and very rare, 5 bedroom, 2600 sq ft floor plans. The lots are also larger, averaging 10,000 sq ft. This is an example of a beautifully maintained original Eichler on Fallen Leaf. Many interesting variations can be found from the dominantly atrium model subdivision, including one plan that features a house shaped like the letter “H”. Considered something of a move-up Eichler neighborhood, because of the higher price point for South Bay Area Eichlers, many of the Fallen Leaf Park Eichler residents have previously lived in an Eichler before. Once these Eichler reach 50 years of age, Fallen Leaf Park is likely to become the first historic district in Los Altos, which would stave off any potential second-story additions or teardowns under the protection of historic designation. Parsons Way is the smaller development with only 8 homes located on the small cul-de-sac off of San Antonio Road. Built in 1974, these 4 bedroom homes feature 2150-2600 sq ft living spaces with relatively oversized lots over 10,500 sq ft.
