Unique and popular are two words often-used to describe the 225 Eichler homes that make up the Cupertino tract. Centralized in today’s major technology hub, most Cupertino Eichlers can be found within the Fairgrove neighborhood, on the northeast corner of Miller Ave and Bollinger Road.  With major employment and entertainment attractions, such as Apple Campus and Cupertino Main Street only a few miles away, these homes are highly coveted due to their prime location, yet are some of the more affordable homes in Cupertino. Built in early 1960’s, where they fetched an original selling price of only $20,000, the Cupertino Fairgrove Eichler tract was constructed in two phases. The first phase was built in 1960 East of Hyde Ave, and consisted of 3 bedroom floor plans with smaller footprints.  You’ll find courtyard models, but no atrium models here.  The second phase was built in 1961 West of Hyde Ave, with a mixture of both courtyard and atrium models ranging from 3 bed floorplans with 1272 sq ft living space to 4 bed floorplans with 1852 sq ft living space, such as this one on Brookgrove Lane.

Most of the Fairgrove homes have maintained their original Eichler architectural style. Spurred by homeowner demand, in 2001, The City of Cupertino adopted The Eichler Guidelines, which encouraged Eichler homeowners towards preserving the identity of the Eichler neighborhood. In fact, Cupertino was one of the first Eichler neighborhoods to adopt such a guideline, encouraging many other cities to pursue similar efforts.
