Concord Oktoberfest:

Friday-Saturday, Oct. 12-13. Mayor Edi Birsan and Dan Gordon of Gordon Biersch will tap the kegs at 6 p.m. Friday to kick off this city’s celebration. Beer tent with 20-plus craft breweries; German music and dancers; food trucks selling Bavarian fare; strongman contests; children’s games and petting zoo. Free admission; $25 buys commemorative stein and two half-liters of beer. 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Todos Santos Plaza. www.concordoktoberfest.com

Peninsula Oktoberfest:

Saturday, Oct. 13. Hiller Aviation Museum again hosts the nighttime Peninsula Oktoberfest. Live music (Bayern Maiden, Rockin’ Oktoberfest Band, San Mateo Elks Oktoberfest Band), German beers plus local microbrews and German food to purchase. 6 to 11 p.m. outside the museum at 601 Skyway Road, San Carlos. Hotel Valencia Santana Row, San Jose:

San Ramon Oktoberfest:

Saturday, Oct. 20. Event sponsored by the San Ramon Historic Foundation will feature the Olympia Fields Brass Band, Golden Gate Bavarian Dancers — and dachshund races. Beer and German-themed lunch. Walnut Creek Oktoberfest:

Saturday, Oct. 20. Biergarten, food booths, harvest-themed arts and crafts, plus Kinder Platz with pumpkin patch, rides and activities for children. Live music. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at a new location this year, Civic Park. Free admission. www.walnutcreekdowntown.com

Campbell Oktoberfest:

Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21. This 24th annual event combines the German food, beer and music of an Oktoberfest with the arts and crafts of a traditional street festival (more than 100 vendors), running for several blocks along Campbell Avenue downtown. Highlights: Local brew legend Dan Gordon will judge the beer stein-holding contest in the Biersch Garden. First-time Bavarian costume contest (both days).
