July 4th
We’ve decided to put together a list of Silicon Valley spots to watch this year's 4th of July fireworks. Although the San Francisco waterfront is the obvious go-to for most bay area residents, there are many great options that are a little closer to home, especially if you would like to try and avoid sitting in traffic, large crowds, and long lines.
  1. 4th of July All-City Picnic and Fireworks Extravaganza, Santa Clara -Bring family and friends because there is something for everyone to enjoy. The activities begin at 2 and last all day with live music, swimming, food trucks and much more. Don't forget to bring your lawn chair and blankets to watch fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Central Park, 909 Kiely Boulevard, Santa Clara. (408) 615-3140. Here is the flyer for more information.

  2. Annual 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular, Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View - Celebrate the Fourth of July with a festive outdoor performance of hero-themed favorites perfect for summer! Led by conductor Edwin Outwater at Shoreline Amphitheatre, the SF Symphony fills the night air with the exhilarating music of Star Wars, chart-topping pop performed by renowned Broadway vocalist Capathia Jenkins, hit songs from Pixar, a salute to our Armed Forces, and more, culminating in a grand finale of amazing fireworks... Tickets required.

  3. Rose, White, and Blue Parade, The Alameda Avenue, San Jose - Enjoy a family holiday filled with history, patriotism, and roses! Live music, arts and crafts booths, antique cars, and good things to eat at the Festival after the Parade! The parade starts 10 a.m. at Lincoln High School. Check out more info here.

  4. Rotary Fireworks, Discovery Meadow, downtown San Jose - Rotary Club of San Jose presents Rotary Fireworks, an evening event starting at 5:15 p.m. with a dinner buffet along the banks of the Guadalupe River, fun activities for kids, entertainment and a firework show that will start at approximately 9:30 p.m. Check it out here.

  5. San Jose Giants Game and Fireworks Show, San Jose Municipal Stadium -There's no better way to celebrate America than baseball and fireworks! Come out to the ballpark to watch the San Jose Giants hit the field against the Quakes. The game will be followed by a fireworks show. Tickets sell out fast. BTW, those who don't manage to secure tickets can still see the show from various spots surrounding the stadium.

  6. 4th of July Fireworks Show, Cupertino - Cupertino hosts their annual small-town Fourth of July fireworks show with viewing locations at three different parks in the city. Start the day from 7-11am with a Pancake Breakfast, hosted by the De Anza Optimist Club of Cupertino at the Quinlan Community Center.  Followed by 9-12pm is a children’s carnival and parade (at 10 am) and concert at Memorial Park. Then gather for viewing the fireworks at Creekside Park, Middle Avenue, or Sedgwick Elementary School. Fireworks set off from Cupertino High School around 9:30 pm. For more information.

  7. Scotts Valley’s annual 4th of July Parade, Flyover, and Fireworks. Great for those looking to get out of the Valley, Scott Valley’s annual event is a nice drive. The parade and flyover will begin at 3 pm on Scotts Valley Drive and the pre-fireworks festivities at Skypark Park, including food, live music, a petting zoo, a bounce house, and games, starts at 4 pm. Then settle in on a blanket for the fireworks show at 9:15 pm. Click here for more info.

[Oh, and if you do insist on heading to San Francisco, the fireworks barges will be located in the Bay just north of Aquatic Park and Pier 39 in Fisherman’s WharfMarina GreenGhirardelli Square and, Crissy Field, are also great spots to watch the action.]

Happy 4th of July
